The major principal of Sandbox has spent more than 30 years assessing and allocating to private funds and integrating them with public investments.
While statistical measures are important, current technology can provide visual clues and assist in the comprehension of issues in portfolio construction. It was Sandbox’s experience that many tools aren’t fast or visual, although highly statistical. However, technology has developed so that users can see and interact with large bodies of data in visual/graph form.
That’s the heuristic approach; instant comprehension.

Our view is that there is a significant amount of “soft” information available in large visualizations that a single number can’t easily capture….
